For five years, the Department of Veterans Affairs had no formal Office of Internal Communications – even though VA had nearly 370,000 employees and was equivalent in size to a Fortune Seven organization. In 2016, VA launched a new Office of Internal Communications.  The office reached more than 110,000 employees per day via its online news blog, employees gave VA communications high marks and employee engagement scores then jumped up across the organization.
